Swimsuit Cover-Up Tutorial

I really needed a swimsuit cover up for the beach, and just a simple one. They tend to be too expensive, so I made one myself. Here is how I did it.

First, you will need fabric at least 2 yds x 1 yd. Knit or jersey fabric is best.

You can cut this down to fit you better. I cut mine down to about 60″x28″.

Now, fold over the material in half. You’re going to cut armholes in the corners.

To make even armholes, I traced around a bowl on a piece a paper and then folded it in quarters then placed that in the corner of the fabric, traced that, then cut.

Now, hem around all of the edges.

For the straps cut 2 strips of that are 20″ long and 5″ wide. Cut each strip into 3 pieces, sew the ends, then braid. I used tape to hold it to the table while I braided.

If the straps are tool long you can cut them down to size. I ended up cutting a few inches off of mine.

Last step! Sew the ends of the braided straps to the corners of the armholes!
